August 2010 News

Tuesday 3rd - David and Kim returned to Keynsham Manor for one of their sophisticated evenings of Dinner with 'Live' music.  As always, it was a brilliant night with some lovely people.  It was great to see some familiar faces and to meet some new people.  We enjoyed chatting to you all and hope to see you again next time we play there!

Saturday 7th - Dancin' Easy and Soundbites Disco were pleased to be playing locally at Bowden Hall for Kathryn and Matt's wedding.  It was a great evening and we met some fabulous people ......  Stan, who got up and played trumpet with the band!  He was fab and everyone enjoyed the spontaneous rendition of Watermelon Man!  Kathryn's Dad who very kindly treated us to a nice  glass of wine - thank you Kathryn's Dad!  Not to mention Kathryn and Matt who were absolutely LOVELY!!! And, Matt's sister, Sophie and her husband Tom, whose wedding we played at two years ago - my, how time flies!! Plus some of Kathryn's lovely friends who turned out to be some of the bands biggest fans!! They had seen us at one of the Thistle's Xmas party nights a couple of years ago and then again at Sophie and Tom's wedding.  They were excited to see us again and danced all night!  Thank you our biggest fans.  We'll see you again soon, no doubt. Dancing at Bowden Hall

Sunday 8th - The Kim Cypher Band performed for the first time at the Imperial Hotel in Stroud - wow, what an amazing night this was!  So many wonderful people came out to support us and made us feel so welcome.  It really was a night to remember and definitely one of our favourite gigs ever with the Kim Cypher Band! Thanks everyone.

Phew, Mike and Kim have finally made it to their two weeks holiday!!

Saturday 28th - Straight from holiday to Middleton Hall, Tamworth for Jo and Dave's wedding.  We had Andy with us on trumpet tonight as Ian was at another wedding as a guest rather than as a performer.  It was nice to have Andy back and his mum had baked us a 'Band' cake to celebrate his return for one night only.  Yum Yum.  And yes, we can confirm that it tasted as good as it looked!

Thanks Andy's mum!
The Dancin' Easy cake

We had a great night at Middleton Hall and everyone was so lovely and friendly.  We played some Rod Stewart songs especially for Jo's mum and Dave's dad plus our version of Aerosmith's 'Don't Wanna Miss A Thing' was just the ticket for Jo and Dave's first dance routine.

Thanks everyone, we had a great night and we'll definitely see you again sometime, probably for the next family wedding!

Another busy month as we continue the hectic wedding season and prepare for our studio recording with The Kim Cypher Band ...

Friday 9th - Dancin' Easy and Soundbites Disco played for Gabrielle and Stuart's wedding at The Walls Club, Gloucester.  It was a fabulous evening and we wish Gabrielle and Stuart all the very best for the future.  Check out how smart David looked on stage as he was part of the wedding party.  He was the step father of the bride so had to perform twice that day, once with the father of the bride speach and then with the band! David at Gabrielle and Stuart's wedding

Saturday 10th - An exciting day as we prepared for our headlining performance at the Andoversford Summerfest 2010.  We arrived early in the day to get set up and sound checked.  there were lots of other great bands performing throughout the day, leading to our final slot at 10.00pm to midnight.  The crowd was all ready and raring to go by the tme we got on stage.  We all danced the night away. Waiting to play at Andoversford

Thank you to everyone who came out to support us.

Thursday 15th - Mike and Kim were performing with Peter Gill for the fantastic outdoor musical event at the Tuckwell Theatre.  Well, that was the idea until the weather decided to change into the wettest, windiest night of the year!!!  Still, the show must go on ... and so it did!  The venue was changed slightly so, although we were still outdoors, we did at least have a roof over our heads.  Thankfully, the loyal audience braved the bitter cold and the wet to stay for the entire performance.  It was a brilliant night of music, with excellent reviews.  Well done Pete, another successful event.

Saturday 17th - Dancin' Easy and Soundbites Disco returned to the familiar venue of the Kingscote Barn for Emily and Phil's wedding.  We had a lovely evening there and were very well looked after.  Thank you Emily and Phil.

Lucky Sarah and Lance, they're off on their hols to France for 2 weeks!  The rest of us have to keep going....

Friday 30th - Tonight the band headed to Priston Mill for Paolo and Ed's wedding.  We had guest singer Suzy Jacoby with us tonight whilst Sarah's on her hols.  As always, we had great fun with Suzy in the band and the audience were up dancing all night.  When we finished at 11.55pm, after a couple of encores, one of the keen dancers looked at his watch and disappointedly said that we'd finished 5 minutes early ... actually, we were supposed to finish at 11.45pm prompt, but don't tell anyone!  It was nice that you enjoyed our music so much you didn't want us to stop.  Thank you very much Paola and Ed for making us feel so welcome. Maybe we'll see you at one of our public gigs again soon. Priston Mill for Paola and Ed's wedding

Saturday 31st - Sarah's back and we return to the beautiful venue, Upper Court for Rupert and Carolyn's wedding.  Well, this was just a perfect evening: lovely people, beautiful venue, keen dancers, free bar ... what more could we ask for?  We had a great time performing for all of Rupert and Carolyn's family and friends and we especially enjoyed the Scottish dancing.  My goodness, it's been a while since we played the 'Gay Gordons'!!  Thank you Rupert, Carolyn and Sue (Carolyn's mum), you were all lovely and we'd happily perform for you again anytime. Rupert and Carolyn's wedding at Upper Court

And so, another busy month survived!  Mike and Kim are looking forward to their two weeks in sunny Sicily next month.  Then it will be back to it!

June 2010 News

Well, we can't believe we are already at the end of June!  Our busy summer season is certainly making the time fly by very quickly indeed and with 8 bookings already confirmed for July, the summer will be over before we know it.

Friday 11th June - Kim headed off to Chepstow Racecourse for a booking with international vocalist  Gary Grace.  It was a great gig performing to the 3000 race-goers.  There was dancing into the night, finishing with a sing-a-long rendition of 'New Your, New York'.  Thanks Gary.

Saturday 12th June - A welcome return for the band and Soundbites Disco to the Tibberton Summer Ball.  This was our fourth consecutive year and, as always, it was a FAB night!  The dance floor was packed throughout the evening and the band was even treated to a bottle of wine by a lovely lady from the Ukraine who danced non stop to the band's music!  Thank you very much lovely lady from the Ukraine!  A nice, chilled glass of Rose was just what was needed to relax and unwind after our performance.  Cheers and here's to the Tibberton Summer Ball! Tibberton Summer Ball

Saturday 19th June - A busy day for David and Kim as the duo and the band were performing for Billy and Michael's wedding in Bredwardine, Herefordshire.  It was a stunning setting on a hilltop with amazing views over the surrounding countryside and the River Wye.

The duo entertained the wedding guests during the reception and were delighted to receive a rapturous applause following their performance.  Later on, the band got into full swing, beginning with a set of 'swing style' numbers as requested by Billy and Michael.  The dance floor was packed as soon as we began with renditions of 'Mack the Knife', 'Sway', 'L-O-V-E', the Michael Buble favourite ' Everything' as well as many other swing favourites.  After that it was straight in to the lively party stuff.  We had a great evening!  Thank you Billy and Michael we wish you both all the best for the future.

Monday 3rd May - WOW!!! All of us in The Kim Cypher Band were overwhelmed to be performing at the amazingly prestigious Cheltenham Jazz Festival.  As loyal supporters of the festival, it was such an honour to be asked to be part of the event this year.  We did our spot on the Bank Holiday Monday on the amazing Budvar stage.  It was absolutely FABULOUS!!  Since then we have been inundated with e-mails from people saying how much they loved the band and asking where can they get a CD from etc! Even Donna Renney (Chief Executive of Cheltenham Festivals) thanked us for "a wonderful performance".

Sunday 16th May - Well, despite our busy weekend and the continued late nights, Kim and David were booked to perform at Stonehouse Court for a 90th birthday celebration.  It was a very nice event and the children loved putting on the teddy bear masks and parading around to "The Teddybear's Picnic"  We knew those masks would come in handy for something!

Wow, what a gig that was.  We had the whole crowd singing along to some of our favourite songs as we played the last set of the day.  Some familiar faces in the crowd including one of the guests from Stephen and Emily's wedding only 2 days before!  He was vey surprised to see us all again!!

Why not consider a similar package of musical entertainment for your event. It can all be sorted out by Kim at MC Entertainments (see the links page).

January 2010 News - "There's Snow Business Like Show Business!!"

Wednesday 13th January - The Kim Cypher Band gig at The Norwood Arms still went ahead despite the remains of the snow.  It was a fantastic night with many familiar faces in the audience.  Thank you to all of you who braved the weather to support us.  We really enjoyed playing some newly rehearsed numbers and a lot of our old favourites.  If you missed that gig, why not come along and see us at The Venue on Tuesday 20th April. December 2009 News

Happy New Year to you all!!  Enjoy reading all about the Dancin' Easy festive season ....

Firstly, we were booked to play for a wedding at The Feathers Hotel, Ledbury on the 5th December. Although this was our first visit to this stunning venue, we were familiar with many of the faces there.  Earlier in the year we played for Tom and Hannah's wedding and Tom's dad, David, is the owner of The Feathers. So, it was nice to be in such friendly company. At The Feathers Hotel
We had a great night there celebrating Alan and Laura's wedding.  They were a really lovely couple and Laura loved to dance!  Their special first dance was 'Reach For The Stars' by S-Club 7 and this worked brilliantly with the fabulous balloon they had suspended over the dance floor, full of smaller balloons and streamers.  We had instructions to 'detonate' the balloon at the start of the first chorus. So Lance, from Soundbites Disco, was 'Mr Detonator' for the night and proudly detonated the balloon just as Sarah sang "Reach For The Stars" - ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT!!! Alan and Laura at The Feathers Hotel

Friday 11th - The first of our Xmas party nights at The Cheltenham Racecourse and what a great night it was!  We met some really great people from the Gloucestershire College, Ecclesiastical, the X-Ray Department (although we saw straight through them!) Not forgetting the pharmacists and of course the lovely ladies from Charlton Ladies B team who took a real shine to Ian, our trumpeter.  We have no idea why!! Ian 'Quasimodo' Brown

Roll on the next Xmas party night!! Party night at the Racecourse

Saturday 12th - We headed to the Bath Assembly Rooms for the SEA staff Xmas party.  This was not the first time we have played for this event and, as always, the staff really enjoyed dancing to our music, especially 'Bad Boys' by Alexandra Burke!  We were very well looked after by Searcys caterers, so a big thank you to SEA and Searcys. Bath Assembly Rooms

Tuesday 15th - Mike played at The Venue with the Pete Gill Swing Band - a great night with some festive tunes thrown in for good measure!!

Wednesday 16th - Our long awaited performance at Dean Close School for their Xmas Party night, and what a great night it was! Non-stop dancing all night and such lovely people.  A big thank you to Jonathan (the Headmaster) and Julie, who looked after us so well.  We can't wait to perform for you again next year! Dean Close School

Friday 18th - Back to the Cheltenham Racecourse for yet another fabulous night of non-stop dancing with some great people.  Thank you Marie and Susie and all The Racecouse staff for looking after us so well.  We are looking forward to seeing you all again in 2010.

Saturday 19th - We performed for Steve and Becky's wedding at Berkeley Castle.  It was a beautiful setting with the most amazing Christmas tree.  Everyone had a great time and it was nice to welcome Andy back on trumpet for the evening. Berkeley Castle

Wednesday 30th - A booking for the KC Five Band, which consists of Kim, Mike, David, Neil and vocalist Suzy Jacoby.  The evening was an Xmas party night for residents of the Cheltenham Thistle Hotel.  We had a great time performing for some really lovely people, who danced the night away!  It was nice to chat with many of the guests at the end of the evening and everyone had clearly had a great time.

Thursday 31st - We welcomed in the New Year at Churchdown Community Centre.  It was a fun evening with some familiar faces.  A big thank you to Joan for booking us and let's hope 2010 is a good year for all of us! NYE

November 2009 News

Well, a short break from the band's very busy schedule was welcome at the start of November.  Mike & Kim even managed to fit in a short trip to Barcelona.  Honestly, they're getting as bad as Neil 'Holiday' Humphris!!

Then on the 20th November we were back once again to Forest Green Rovers for a charity event organised by our good friend Kristina Hand.  As always, she did a brilliant job.  The 'Night at the Oscars' themed evening was a very posh affair with plenty of dancing and over £3000 being raised for The Meningitis Trust(www.meningitis-trust.org) and The Back Up Trust (www.backuptrust.org.uk).

Well done Kristina!

Tuesday 6th October - David and Kim headed off to perform with the duo at Keynsham Manor again for one of their fantastic 'Jazz Nights'.  As always, Michael and Christian were the perfect hosts to all of the diners who had come along to enjoy the excellent fine dining and sophisticated music.  It was great to see some familiar faces there again, like Mark (whose birthday it was last time we played there!)  It was a great night and everyone enjoyed themselves.  We're looking forward to returning there early next year.

September 2009 News

Busy, busy, busy ....

4th September - Back to Priston Mill for Hayley and Tristan's wedding.  It was a very happy occasion and turned out to be a triple celebration as Hayley's parents (John and Angela) were celebrating their 38th wedding anniversary that same night and Tristan's parents were celebrating their 45th wedding anniversary the following day!

With so much to celebrate a good time was had by all.
Hayley and Tristan - Priston Mill

5th September - Dancin' Easy and Soundbites Disco were at The Swan Hotel in Bibury.  Such a beautiful venue and definitely some of the nicest people we have ever played for.  Danni and Iain were the most lovely people you could ever care to meet and we all had such a fun evening.

There was non-stop dancing throughout the night, but the prize for the best dancer definitely goes to young Josh who did an amazing impression of Michael Jackson!  Well done Josh, you were amazing!

And if that wasn't enough excitement, there was also plenty of audience participation and let's just say they weren't a shy lot and we have the proof!

Thanks a million Danni and Iain - definitely one of our most memorable evenings!

Sunday 6th September - well today some of us headed off to far flung places such as Barnsley and Guiting Power (OK, so Guiting Power isn't quite as far flung as Barnsley!)

Anyway, David and Kim were performing with the duo at The Hollow Bottom in Guiting Power for a Christening party - very nice too!  Meanwhile, Mike spent 7 hours in a transit van heading to and from Barnsley for a Billy Fury tribute night.  Mike was playing drums in the band for this.  It was a good night, but after such a busy weekend, let's just say Mike wasn't too pleased about getting up at 6.30am on Monday morning to go to work!

12th September - Wow, we had a free Saturday night as a booking had unfortunately had to be cancelled.  What to do with ourselves???

Tuesday 15th September - The Kim Cypher Band were back at The Venue.  It was great to see so many friendly faces in the audience, including Paul who had travelled all the way from Australia to see us!
19th September - Two gigs in one day for David and Kim.  Firstly the Duo performed at Kemble Airfield for their Battle of Britain Weekend.  There was a lovely atmosphere in the AV8 restaurant and we enjoyed entertaining all the diners.  The occasional break was necessary as we soon became aware that we were no competition for the flying displays by the Spitfire, Hurricane, P51 (see picture) and the mighty AVRO 504 Vulcan!! P51 at Kemble

Straight from Kemble to Stonehouse Court for Tracy and Nick's wedding.  The staff at Stonehouse Court were pleased to see us back there yet again - we are becoming part of the furniture!  It was a great evening and all the guests enjoyed dancing to the band and Soundbites Disco.  We had a nice chat with Tracy (the bride) at the end of the evening and we were delighted to have contributed to her perfect day.  All the very best for the future Tracy and Nick. Tracy at Stonehouse Court
26th September - Back to the Swan Hotel at Bibury - a familiar venue for us as we were there only the other week! This time, the duo were performing for Andy and Sophie's wedding.  They had a very sophisticated drinks reception on the stunning lawn area next to the stream - very nice indeed.

Later on, David and Kim were joined by the rest of the band and Lance from Soundbites Disco to provide the evening entertainment.  We had a very enjoyable evening and we wish Sophie and Andy all the very best for the future.

Phew, we made it through a very busy September!!

August 2009 News

7th August - Well, what a great night this was at Stonehouse Court playing for Mike and Nicky's wedding.  Really nice people and yummy bacon baps - what more could we have asked for? We also received a really nice thank you card from Mike and Nicky, which you can see on the Testimonials Page.  Thank you Mike and Nicky, it was a real pleasure performing for you both and all your friends and family.  We hope to see you again sometime. Mike and Nicky at Stonehouse Court

A well deserved break for the band now until 27th August. 2 weeks in sunny Sorento was just the job for Mike and Kim, while the rest of us stayed in the good old UK!

Thursday 27th August - Home from our holiday (well, some of us had not been away!) on Wednesday night and straight back to it on the Thursday for Tina and Andy's wedding at The Matara Centre.  The band and Soundbites Disco had them up dancing all night.  We met some really nice people that night, including the Fonz - hmmmm, not convinced that is his real name! Anyway, he wanted to join the band because he said he could tell that we all get on so well and have such a good time.  Thank you Fonz and very best wishes to Tina and Andy.

29th August - The Bisley Ball.  This was a great night performing for the people of Bisley.  We were very well looked after by Phil, the organiser, who had arranged for the band to have sandwiches in the local pub, The Bear.  When we got there, many of the party-goers were in there and it was nice to chat with some of them before we performed for them later.  It seems that 'Valerie' was one of the favourite songs as we were asked to play this twice, especially for Mary and Kerry.  We also made many other new friends at this gig - there was Ruth (who wants us to play for her 21st birthday party), Ken (the very nice barman), Lizzie, Kerry, Pete and Wilf (who we met in The Bear), Eddie (the king of Rock'n' Roll) and not forgetting Phil (the organiser) and of course Pat (who paid us).  Maybe we'll see you all again next year. The Bisley Ball 2009

31st August - Mike performed with the "Pete Gill Swing Band" at Priory Park in Malvern for a charity open day.

Looking forward now to a busy September.

July 2009 News
4th July - Our first gig of the month was at Stinchcombe Hill Golf Club for their annual Summer Ball.  This was our first visit to the golf club and they are now our new 'best friends'.  We had such a great time there with a fantastic crowd of really friendly people.  We had Mark Howell with us on bass that night as Neil was on holiday (yet again!).  We were also joined by Suzy Jacoby on lead vocals and air guitar!!

We can't wait to go back there for their 'Captain's Dinner' next year!  Thank you everyone at Stinchcombe.
David and Suzy Jacoby at Stinchcombe Golf Club

11th July - A nice local booking for the band and Soundbites Disco at Puckrup Hall for Sarah and Andrew's wedding.  We all agreed that they were some of the nicest people we have ever played for.  Thank you everyone.  We're so pleased that you all had such a great time and we wish Sarah and Andrew all the very best for their married life together.  It was a real pleasure performing for you! Sarah and Andrew's wedding at Puckrup Hall

Sunday 12th July - A duo booking at the Cotswold Clay Club and this was a duo booking with a difference. Firstly, the duo consisted of Kim on saxophones and Peter Gill on keybords and vocals, rather than David on guitar, as David had a family party to attend that day.  Secondly, the gig was actually in a quarry!!  Yes, a quarry!  So, there was a rendition of 'The Flinstones' to set the scene followed by a selection of music to accompany the barbeque.  I'm pleased to say that Nick and Gemma had very enjoyable birthdays.  Thanks to all the members of The Cotswold Clay Club, we're glad you liked us, especially as you all had guns! Cotswold Clay Shooting Club

Wednesday 15th July - Mike and Kim played in an open-air concert at Dean Close School with the Peter Gill Band.  It was a lovely evening and very much enjoyed by the audience.

25th July - Dancin' Easy, Just The Two of Us and Soundbites Disco provided all of the musical entertainment for Rhys and Rebecca's wedding at Ashleworth, and what a great day and evening it was.  Thankfully, the weather was beautiful that day and so the amazing garden and marquee could really be appreciated.

The duo performed for the afternoon drinks reception and then the band and the disco really got the party going in the evening.

The bride's father, Tim, was really please with the whole package of entertainment and sent us a really lovely e-mail, which you can see on our Testimonials Page.

Thanks Tim, We really hope to see you again sometime, maybe at next year's Strawberry Ball!!

Tuesday 2nd June - The duo ('Just The Two of Us') performed at Keynsham Manor.  A great night with lovely people and beautiful dogs!!  Michael and Christian were perfect hosts to the many diners who were there for the good food, superb music and to celebrate their special occasions.  Happy Birthday Mark and congratulations to the lovely couple who had just got married.  Of course, we had appropriate renditions for both occasions, accompanied by the guests singing.  Here's to our next gig there.

Friday 19th June - The Kim Cypher Band returned to The Strand, but this time with a VERY special guest performer!! Well done Rob.  The 'Elvis' style rendition of Happy Birthday was very much appreciated by the audience and the birthday boy himslf.  A milestone birthday for Pete Gill, our keyboard player ... but which milestone was it? ... 21 of course !?!?!?! Kim and Elvis at The Strand

Saturday 20th June - A FABULOUS wedding booking for Dancin' Easy at Hampton Court, Herefordshire.  What an amazing venue and we were made to feel very welcome by Alex, the Director, plus all the other extremely friendly staff.  We had a really enjoyable evening performing for Wendy and Ian and all of their wedding guests.  A great audience, amazing surroundings, lovely people and, of course, excellent music! What more could we ask for?

Friday 26th June - A tropical night at The Cheltenham Regency Hotel to celebrate Lance and Mark's 40th birthdays.  What a great night that was.  There were palm trees and tropical shirts everywhere!  Of course we had to start the evening off with 'Walking on Sunshine'  Thanks Lance and Mark, it was a really great party. Kim and Sarah get all tropical

Saturday 27th June - A return visit to Box for the Howard Tennans annual event.  Thankfully, we were lucky with the weather and so everyone was able to enjoy a glass of champagne or two in the beautiful surroundings.

May 2009 News - A busy month

Sunday 10th - Mike performed in a jazz quartet with Gary Grace and Peter Gill which was recorded for the BBC's "Don't Tell The Bride".  Keep an eye out for him on that.

Wednesday 13th - The Kim Cypher Band returned to The Norwood Arms.  Another great night and we were delighted to meet so many of you there who have booked Dancin' Easy to perform at your forthcoming weddings.  Thank you for making the effort to come along and see us - your support is greatly appreciated and we look forward to performing for you again soon.

Friday 15th - Another night out for the Kim Cypher Band! As usual, we had a brilliant time at The Strand Bar.  Just as we were about to finish off, the barman received a phone call from the owner, Don, and we were asked very nicely to continue playing for a little while longer.  It was not long before Don, Rob (the manager) and a group of party goers appeared with Debs, who was celebrating her birthday.  A rendition of "Happy Birthday" kicked off another half hour of non-stop dancing and partying.  What a great night that was!

Saturday 16th - Dancin' Easy went on a secret "undercover" mission!  We were booked by Jeff to perform at Eastwood Park for the wedding of his son, Chris, and Joanne as a total surprise for them!  It was so exciting!  We managed to keep ourselves well hidden and the surprise continued right up until the point the newly married couple entered the room for their first dance!  Well done Jeff.  It was a great surprise for them and everyone had a fabulous time.

Wednesday 20th - Straight from work we headed off to Priston Mill.  What an amazing venue!  We had a lovely evening and lots of fun performing for Chris and Gail together with all their guests.  We are looking forward to performing at Priston Mill again in September.

Saturday 23rd - A familiar venue for Gemma and Matthew's wedding - The Dormy House Hotel.  As always we enjoyed performing there and had a great evening.

Friday 29th - We were back at The Matara Centre for Sean and Candice's wedding.  Fantastic people who just loved to dance!  Sean himself was the king of the dancefloor, that is until "The King" himself arrived!!!  Check out the photo.  Little did Sean know that Candice had organised the Elvis Tribute as a surprise.

If you would like to book the Elvis Tribute act together with Dancin' Easy, please telephone Kim at MC Entertainments on 01242 236620.

Saturday 30th - Dancin' Easy and Soundbites Disco had a great night at Stonehouse Court Hotel for Becky and Sean's wedding.  The whole evening had a Caribbean influence with lots of Reggae music and an amazing curry goat!! Thanks to all the lovely people we met there that night.

April 2009 News
Thursday 2nd April

Members of the Kim Cypher Band glammed up for the charity 'Oxjam' performance in aid of Oxfam. The event was held at The Strand Bar in Cheltenham and had a 'James Bond meets Sex in the City' theme. A good time was had by everyone, and all for a good cause.  Check out our posh photo!

Friday 10th April

Mike and Neil played a nice jazz gig at The Stratton House Hotel.  The music was very well received by the appreciative audience.  Sadly, this was the final gig for the Neil Humphris Trio with that particular line up.  However, with Mike and Neil's love of jazz music, we feel sure we haven't seen the last of the Neil Humpris Trio yet! Watch this space!
Friday 17th April

Dancin' Easy was back at the Pitville Pump Rooms yet again.  It is such an amazing venue and we enjoyed entertaining members of the Gloucestershire County Council for their Chairman's Ball.  Guests included the Chairman, Mavis Lady Dunrossil, HM Lord-Lieutenant Henry Elwes and Dr Timothy Brain OBE.

Friday 24th April

Two gigs in one day! Phew!
Our first gig was at the Cheltenham Town Hall for 'Cheltenham Connections'. What an amazing gig that was! A fantastic audience who were an absolute pleasure to perform for. We were very pleased to be joined by Suzy Jacoby on lead vocals for this gig and we had a really fun time on stage. Our sincere thanks go to Peter Stone of Cheltenham Connections for organising such an amazing event.  Thank you Peter and we'd be only too pleased to perform for you again.
Cheltenham Connections
Then it was off to Forest Green Rovers for a Rotary Club President's evening. Our friend Graham Peake was the President and, as usual, we were made to feel VERY welcome. We were invited to join the guests for a lovely 3-course dinner and, as we had come stright from the Town Hall gig, this was very welcome indeed.  A great night with a superb audience yet again. Thank you Graham and everyone there! Hope to see you on Halloween!
Saturday 25th April

No rest for the wicked! We headed off to Bristol for a Masonic Ladies Night at Jury's Hotel. We had a great evening with non-stop dancing, led by Steven! It turned out that Steven had his fan club there that night and there was absolutely nothing that Steven couldn't do! Well done Steven and all the dancers that night! Also, well done and thank you to Simon and Becky for organising everythng so well.  We hope to play for you all again sometime.

Gold Cup Race Week at The Strand

Well, all of us in The Kim Cypher Band had so much fun at The Strand during Race Week.  The place was packed to the rafters and we had them all up dancing. The only break in the proceedings was for Rob and Simon to battle it out as the 'Irish Dancing' champion.  The audience choice was Simon, but we thought Rob was the greatest threat to Michael Flatley!
Homme House

On 21st March, Dancin' Easy performed for Hannah and Tom's wedding at Homme House - what a beautiful venue that is, set in stunning countryside.  We had a really lovely evening playing for Hannah and Tom and all their guests.  The first dance 'You Do Something to Me' was a perfect choice and one which we will be keeping in our set list.  Later there was a bit of Scottish dancing for the men in kilts and the ushers!  Well done everyone, you did a splendid job.
Hannah and Tom's wedding at Homme House
A big thank you to the bride and groom's family for all their hospitality and also to John and Jocelyn from Homme House for making us feel so welcome.

We hope to be back there again very soon.

Another performance for The Kim Cypher Band at The Venue on 3rd February.  It was really nice to have so much support there, especially in view of the icy weather!  Thank you to everyone who made the effort to come along.  We had a great evening.
What better way to spend Valentines Night than onboard the amazing SS Great Britain! Dancin' Easy were there to perform for Rob and Laura's wedding celebration, and what a lovely, romantic occasion it was.  Many congratulations to Rob and Laura! All aboard the SS Great Britain
Exciting times ahead .....

... There is an air of excitement within the Dancin' Easy camp!  We have so many bookings already in the diary for this year and even into 2010!  However, nothing could have prepared us for the excitement of confirming a booking at Chester Zoo.  We have never played at a zoo before and already the banter has started!  David has insisted that we will need to go in "two by two" for that gig!  Kim is laying down the law and has told the rest of us that there will be no monkeying around or she may go ape!  Meanwhile, Sarah just reckons we're all havin' a giraffe!!

Right , that's enough now, roll on March.

January 2009 News - Cold Feet, Jazz Funk and a late Christmas Party

Our first booking of 2009 was for Anne-Marie and Alan's wedding at Sudeley Castle on 3rd January.  The duo performed during the wedding breakfast and then the band performed for their evening party.  We played a specially adapted rendition of Amy Winehouse's 'Valerie' for the bride!  The song was re-named 'Anne-Marie' and many of the guests enjoyed joining in with the line "why don't you come on over Anne-Marie"!!

We had an enjoyable evening at Sudeley, although the combination of stone flooring and open-toed shoes (for the girls) became a bit much in the end.  The only solution was to resort to desperate measures!!
Sarah and Kim get cold feet at Suddely Castle
On Wednesday 14th January, Kim and the rest of the gang in The Kim Cypher Band had The Norwood Arms packed to the rafters for the first of 2009's jazz nights.  A great evening was had by all.

We'll be back there on Wednesday 13th May.
Wednesday at the Norwood
On Friday 16th, The Kim Cypher Band were back at The Strand Bar.  Another great evening full of good music, dancing and very enthusiastic audience participation. We've  been re-booked to play there during the Cheltenham Festival race week.

Why not join us on Wednesday 11th or Thursday 12th March. You never know, we may even throw in a few Irish numbers for good measure!
Kim Cypher Band at The Strand
On the 17th Dancin' Easy entertained 'Johnson Apparel Master' for their festive party night at The Holiday Inn, Bristol. They were very keen dancers!  So keen in fact that the band ended up going on 45 minutes sooner than originally planned - they just couldn't wait! Thank you Johnsons!  What a great night.

December 2008 News - Christmas Gala Nights and New Years Eve

Well, we are now, sadly, at the end of our Xmas run at the Cheltenham Thistle Hotel.  We have just had so much fun with everyone who joined us for the Xmas Gala Nights.  On the first evening we were joined by a fantastic group of people - some from Staples, Treetops, Furniture Direct, plus Rob the 'Chicken" man and his friends, although we were corrected on many occasions as it was, apparently, a cock on his head not a chicken, sorry Rob! Dancin Easy at The Thistle Gala Nights

Anyway, that first night really kick started the whole festive season.  The next night we were joined by a larger crowd - from DFS, Lung Function, the Police, Atlantic Holidays and not forgetting the Cobblers!  Dancin' Easy decided to pay a little tribute to Dolly Parton that night and it was cowboy hats and boots all the way!  Ye-ha!!

The following weekend was just as much fun with groups in from the Gloucester Royal, Severn Trent Water, Cheltenham General, C&G plus many other companies and private groups including "Mr Ace" from Aces.  He was just ace!

Happy New Year to you All!

We welcomed in 2009 with all the party-goers at Churchdown Community Centre.  What a great night we had and it was good to see so many familiar faces there. "Auld Lang Syne" and "The Gay Gordons" (for our Scottish friends) brought in the New Year under the watchful guidance of Mr Rolex (chief time keeper for the evening).

Thank you everyone for such a great evening and special thanks to Joan and the staff at the community centre.  No doubt we will be seeing you again soon.

November 2008 News - DJ's Dickie Bows and Children in Need!
On Friday 7th November, Dancin' Easy performed at Dumbleton Hall for a very classy 60th Birthday / Anniversary party.  It was the perfect excuse for the boys in the band to glam up in their DJs and dickie bows.  Who needs James Bond when you can have the Dancin' Easy boys! Dumbleton Hall
The next evening we were back at Forest Green Rovers for the 2nd time in 2 weeks for a Children in Need charity event.  As usual, Kristina had done an amazing job organising the event and the 'Black, White and Silver' theme looked stunning.  Over £2000 was raised for a very worthwhile charity.  A massive well done and than you to Kristina for yet another great achievement.  This was the 3rd time Dancin' Easy had performed for Kristina and we feel sure it won't be the last.  Here's to the next one!  Children in Need at Forest Green Rovers
Friday 21st November and the Kim Cypher Band were back at The Strand Bar by popular demand.  It was another fantastic evening with plenty of audience participation. The Kim Cypher Band at The Strand Bar
 October 2008 News
A last minute, unexpected wedding booking came in for the duo at Wood Norton Hall, Evesham.  We're glad that it did, because the venue is fantastic and perfect for the duo during a drinks reception.  We had a little alcove to set up in and all the guests could mingle, wander round the many cosy little side rooms and enjoy the music.  Thank you John for booking us.  He had seen us at The Cotswold Life Wedding Show and decided to book us as a last minute 'finishing touch'.
11th October - A brilliant wedding in a marquee at Highnam for Sarah and Ed.  We were booked as a package with Soundbites Disco and the whole evening's musical entertainment worked really well.  There was a rendition of Happy Birthday at midnight as Ed (the groom) turned 40.  They were a musical crowd - Sarah's son and Ed's nephew play in a band called 'Rogue' and there was a sneaky snippet of this played amongst one of the Soundbite sets.  Sarah and one of her bridesmaids also sang some backing vocals with the band - they were very good!  In fact, maybe we will ask them to accompany us on any future bookings! Wedding at Highnam
31st October - Dancin' Easy joins forces with Angie, singer with the renowned duo 'Mystique' and Joe, tenor saxophone with 'The Jazz Badgers' for a Halloween charity dinner dance.  The evening, organised by Graham, was for two amazing charities - The cotswold Care Hospice and St Peter's Hospice, Bristol.  Dancin' Easy decided to make the event one of their supported charity events for 2008 and the whole evening was a great success - well done Graham.  To the right is a picture of Kim with Angie and Joe.  Dancin' Easy really enjoyed working with them - thanks guys.  We're back at Forest Green again next week for a Children in Need charity event.  September 2008 News
On Saturday 13th September we were playing at Hawkwell House Hotel near Oxford to celebrate Ian's 40th birthday.  We were very well looked after by Ian and would like to take this opportunity thank him fothe varied selection of refreshments, particularly the Jaffa Cakes!! Yum Yum!
Thursday the 18th saw us at Kingscote Barn celebrating George and Lynn's wedding.  It is a beautiful venue and we had a great time.  Half way through the evening, Ian got brave and decided to venture over to David's side of the stage! This resulted in the first (and probably the last) photo of David and Ian performing a guitar and percussion solo in the middle of a rock 'n' roll medley.  Nice one guys! David and Ian
On Saturday 20th we were playing in the newly re-furbished Hatherley Suite at The Hatherley Manor Hotel for Jodie and Jason's wedding.  Jodie decided she would like to sing a song for Jason.  She gave an excellent performance of 'My Heart Will Go On' whilst Jason sat mid-dancefloor looking a bit shell shocked.  Well done Jodie! Hatherley Manor
The following Saturday we were out with Soundbites Disco at The Manor By The Lake.  It is not a huge venue but the band did fit in nicely across the bay window.  Rachel and Steven had a great evening with non-stop dancing all night Manor By The Lake
August 2008 News
2nd August - The duo playing for a weding at Minsterworth.  Thankfully the pouring rain passed before the duo set up outside for a lovely drinks reception.

Once we'd packed all the gear away, it was time to set off to Andre and Liz's wedding at Ledbury Rugby Club.  A great night was had by all with some energetic dancing.
Thursday 7th - David and Kim spent all day at Clearwell Castle for Lynette and Mike's wedding.  The duo were playing for the afternoon drinks reception and then the band kicked in to get the evening party going.

It seems to be proving popular to book book the duo for the afternoon and the band for the evening.  So if you are booking the band, why not consider having saxophone and guitar to create an ambient atmosphere for your drinks reception.  If you ask us nicely, we will do you a good deal for the complete package!

Anyway, back to Lynette and Mike’s wedding – we had a FANTASTIC party!!  We learnt all about Philipino wedding traditions (which seemed to mainly involve Lynette’s blue garter!) We had a major karaoke session with Mike’s best man called ‘Has no’ kicking off the singing with ‘Wonderful tonight’.  Later in the evening, the bride’s mother, Vicky sang some Philipino songs and, of course, there was no stopping the Irish crowd!  All in all, a great night.

On the Saturday we were at The Chase Hotel for Sophie and Tom's wedding.  They danced brilliantly for their special first dance, 'Happy Together'.  The title of their first dance just about says it all really.  They really were a lovely couple and definately seemed very happy together.
Friday 29th was just one big jam session really.  The Regency Hotel was full of musicians as well as friends and family of John Davies (local singing legend!) to celebrate his birthday and retirement.  Dancin' Easy did a set and then the old Dance Band were reunited for a very special performance just for John.  David and Ian worked really hard as they are not only in Dancin' Easy but also were formerly in the Dance Band as well!  This was followed by many more musicians and singers joining the band for a great fun night of non-stop entertainment.  Dancin' Easy would like to wish John all the very bst for his 65th birthday and his retirement.
'Sweet Caroline' just about sums up the last of our August bookings on Saturday 30th. A very special 50th birthday party for a very special lady (she also happens to be the wife of Neil in the band).  What a great evening and with donations being made to The British Heart Foundation, a very worthwhile event.  Well done Caroline! Caroline

Next, we played at the Cheltenham Racecourse for Craig and Marie's wedding.   They must surely be one of the liveliest crowds we've ever played for!   It was a fantastic night and we had to play 3 encores!   The groom even got up to sing a song with the band for his beloved wife - ah!

Neil's Jazz Trio set sail for a fabulous gig on the SS Great Britain. Don't they look smart!

Mike & Kim have been busy putting together the 'Kim Cypher Band' set list for the 'Venue' gig on Sunday 13th July.   It's promising to be a lively mixture of Jazz, Funk and Reggae.   There are some tricky numbers in the set list so we'd better get rehearsing!!   Don't forget to put that date in your diaries!

DANCIN' EASY NEWS FLASH - Although we have all thought it for quite some time, we now have the photographic evidence to confirm that David is officially Mr Grumpy!

Still to come.........

The Duo perform for a house party in Leominster on 24th May.

Mike turns 40!

Coming up ......

Kim's Jazz/Funk band with Mike, David & Neil will be performing at ' The Venue ' in Cheltenham on Sunday 13th July.   Come along and join us for an enjoyable evening in Jazz Club surroundings.   Entrance is £5.00 on the door.

New Years Eve Party at Churchdown Community Centre - Tickets £10, tables will be reserved, bring your own supper if you like.   This will definitely be a great fun evening - not to be missed!

April 2008- Busy but fun!

On the Friday night we played at RAF Benson in Wallingford for their Spring Ball.   A great night!   To bed at 4.30am after the long drive home.   3 and a half hours later, we're up and getting ready for the Cotswold Life Wedding Show at Sudeley Castle .   The Duo (Just the Two Of Us - Kim & David) performed there and the band had a stall.    We met lots of prospective brides and grooms and took several bookings.   If you met us there, give us a call soon to be sure we are still available on your special day.

On the 19th we played for Gary and Jenny's party at Churchdown Community Centre .   Lovely people and we wish them all the very best with their move to Australia.   We're hoping to see some of their party guests again at the New Year's Eve Party.

Welcome in the new year

A well deserved break during January to re-charge our batteries ready for this year.   Judging by the number of bookings we already have in the diary, this year is going to be very busy indeed!

The bookings begin with a Rugby Club Dinner Dance at Chipping Sodbury Town Hall .   This is followed by some winter weddings including Rachel and Andrew's at the Dark Barn Rudford .   What a great night that was!   Such lovely people and a fantastic crowd who danced all night!!   If only the weather had been as lovely as the people!

Christmas and New Years Eve 2007

Phew, we survived it!   Firstly, a 'Millenium Ball' for the Gloucestershire Police Constabulary .   Then SEA's Xmas party at Hartham Park - wow, what a fantastic venue!   Our performance on the massive 'Centaur ' stage was next for the Lloyds TSB Awards night .   Next followed all our bookings for the Cheltenham Thistle Hotel Xmas Gala Nights.   Just time for a quick rest over Christmas before our gig at the Bath Pump Rooms .   A great evening with fantastic food, amazing surroundings and fabulous entertainment of course!   We even got to sample the delicious food prepared by Searcey's.   Check out the photos to see how posh it was!

Children In Need

Dancin' Easy always likes to support charity events such as Children in Need.   Our booking on 9th November was a huge success.   Well done Kristina for organising everything so well!

Great Fun Performing for Craig David

We played for a 50th Birthday party at The Barn, Cattle Country.   What a fun night that was.   All the guests had to dress up as something or somebody beginning with 'C' as the birthday girl's name was Caroline.   We spent most of the evening marvelling over the imaginative ideas all the guests had - there was even a Craig David in the audience!

Summer Weddings and Charity Gigs

As usual, the summer months were filled with weddings and charity bookings plus a few different things thrown in for good measure - the ' Wimpey Homes ' grand opening at the Grange in Winterbourne, Howard Tenans annual summer party at Box and the Star College Leavers Ball.   The Duo and Neil's Jazz Trio were also busy with bookings including the Courtyard in Hereford.

July 2007 - Dancin' Easy to play the Centaur for the Lloyds TSB Christmas Party

We are really happy to say that we have been booked for the LloydsTSB/C&G Christmas party at the Centaur at Cheltenham Racecourse. We were asked to play last year, but a prior booking prevented it. This year the organisers got in early to make sure they got their band of choice. This promisses to be a fantastic night.

We are also happy to say that we are booked for several party nights at the Golden Valley Thistle Hotel in Cheltenham and will be playing New Years Eve at the Bath Pump Rooms. We still have a few Christmas dates available but you need to get in soon if you want to book the band for your Christmas party.

July 2007 - The wedding / summer party season is upon us

We have had a very busy summer so far and have played at a numerous weddings and summer parties not just with the band but with the duo as well. We have had some fantastic nights (and days) and have met some really nice people. A big thank you goes out to all those people who have looked after us so well and made us feel welcome, it really is appreciated.

December 2006 - Andy moves on and Ian joins the band

Andy was made an offer he couldn't turn down, to become musical director on a cruise ship sailing around the Carribean. Well you wouldn't turn that down would you! We all asked if he had room in his luggage for us, but he didn't. Filling Andy's shoes is Ian Brown. Ian has many years experience playing in function bands and we are very happy that we were able to pursuade him to come out of retirement. When not playing the trumpet he is repairing them. He runs a very successful shop in Charlton Kings, Cheltenham, called Secondwind that specialises in sales and repairs of brass and woodwind instruments.

April 2006 - New "Links" page

Have a look at the new Links page. Here we list services that we are happy to recommend to you from dance teachers to discos. If you have a service that you think would also be of interest, give us a call and we can add you to the page.

February 2006 - The First Dance at a Wedding

We perform at a lot of weddings and often get asked for a special first dance. We enjoy the variety of the songs we are asked to perform, so please keep them coming. However, a large number of Brides and Grooms tell us they were very nervous about their own performance.

We are pleased to be able to recommend Sam Jennings at Beaus and Belles in Cheltenham. Sam is a very experienced dance teacher and choreographer who will work with you to create a special first dance that will amaze your family and friends. Give Sam a call on 01242 582386 or vist the web site www.dances4u.co.uk and remember to tell her we sent you.

January 2006 - The New Year

Another year comes to a close with a great party night at the Churchdown Community Centre. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and a good night was had by all. New Years Day at the Avon Gorge Hotel was a bit of an unknown quantity and we didn't really know what to expect. The crowd were a little older but enjoyed themselves non the less. There are very few bands around that could play party music one night and waltzes and quicksteps the next, but this is the versatility you get if you book Dancin' Easy.

December 2005 - The Party Season

We have just come to the end of a run of Christmas gigs and what a fantastic time we have had, especially a great run of gigs at the Golden Valley Thistle Hotel. A big thanks goes to Paul and all the staff for making us feel so welcome and putting on some great party nights. The biggest was to a crowd of nearly 500. What a night that was! We are now looking forward to a restful time over Christmas with our families, recharging our batteries, getting ready for the New Year parties.

Can we take this opportunity to thank all the wonderful people we have met though the functions we have played at. We have had some great nights and we hope you have too. We wish you all a very Happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
